Welcome to the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Placer and Nevada Counties' On-Line Course on Composting. The UCCE is a land-grant university whose mission is to develop, extend, and bring about the use of research-based knowledge to improve specific practices and technologies.  In our on-line classroom, you will become acquainted with the basic principles of composting. The goal of the course is to provide you with information and resources to efficiently manage your organic waste. There is no charge to take the course, but students as well as "browsers" are encouraged to share this information with others.  Have the exam jitters? Not to worry here--just like the process of decomposition, sooner or later you will be on your way to successful on-line composting.
