National TV-Turn Off Week is about taking a healthy break from TV to focus on activities that are more academically, socially and physically rewarding.

There is little doubt that television influences the attitudes, behaviors and values of children before they can walk, talk, read or write.  Children in the United States view an average of 3 to 4 hours of TV every day.  Children who watch little or no TV tend to do better in school, read more books and exercise regularly.
