Proficiency Program

What is the 4-H Proficiency Program?

The 4-H Proficiency Program is comprised of skill levels that increase in scope and difficulty. They are designed to assist youth in measuring themselves against "standards of excellence." The goal of the program is to give members recognition and rewards in a timely manner and in a variety of subjects.

The proficiency levels are voluntary and not meant to be a test. They are given to each youth member as a set of goals that they, as individuals, can work toward over one or more years at their own pace.

Subjects included in this program are Citizenship, Creative Arts & Crafts, Clothing & Textiles, Marine Biology & Oceanography, Foods & Nutrition, Camping & Outdoor Adventure, Leadership, Plant & Soil Sciences, Animal Science, and Wildlife.
