The 4-H Enrollment/Program year is June 30 through July 1 of the following year.  Brand new members not showing an animal at fair can enroll anytime throughout the year. 

Members who will be showing an animal at fair must be enrolled by November 1 (Nevada County) or December 15 (Placer County) of the program year.

Who can enroll in 4-H?

Any youth 5 years of age and older as of January 1 of the enrollment year is eligible to join
4-H.  Those 19 years and older can enroll as adult volunteers.

Please note:  Youth must be 9 years of age or older to enroll in a large animal project such as sheep, swine, horse, cattle, or goat.

How do you enroll yourself and/or your children?

Youth Enrollment: print and complete the following forms and take them to your county 4-H office.  The information will be entered into a database for future reference and forwarded to the 4-H club you are enrolling in.

Adult Enrollment: This is an application process for adults. All parts of the process must be completed BEFORE you begin serving as a 4-H volunteer.

Print and complete the following forms and take them to your county 4-H office.  You will be scheduled for a 30 minute orientation training and receive information on how to have your fingerprints processed. Once those are complete, and you have been approved by the County Director, your information will be entered into a database for future reference and forwarded to the 4-H club you are enrolling in.

Is there a cost to 4-H?

Placer County Youth are $20.00 per youth, per enrollment year. 

Placer County Adult Volunteers are $6.00 per adult, per enrollment year.

Nevada County Youth are $18.00 per youth, per enrollment year.

Nevada County Adult Volunteers are $8.00 per adult, per enrollment year.

Payment is accepted with cash or a check made payable to the 4-H club you are joining.

There may be additional costs associated with the projects the youth take part in.  Please discuss these with the project leader.
