Michael Dimock, Keynote Speaker

The keynote speaker this year is Michael Dimock, who has been working on sustainable agriculture issues for a long time.  Michael, the president of Roots of Change, works on sustainability and high value marketing strategies to help small and medium size agricultural producers survive amidst global corporte consolidation.

As the founder in 1992, of the Ag Innovations Network, which provides strategic sustainability planning services to rural communities, food companies, and government agencies, Michael has also been a central player in the Slow food movement, both as chair of slow Food USA (until 2006) and as a member of the Slow Food International board.  He has also been chair of the Community Alliance with Family Farmers, California's oldest organization dedicated to sustainable family farms.

Roots of Change is a collaborative of diverse leaders and institutions unified in common pursuit of a sustainable food system in California by the year 2030.  As a coordination entity across government, non-profit and business sectors, Roots of Changeworks to maximize the synergy available to those transforming the food system by convening multi-stakeholder planning sessions and supporting collaborative implementation with grants, fellowships, and contracts.
